Among the most iconic buildings in Bangkok, Ananta Samakom Throne Hall, will be closed to the general public from 1st October 2017 for an extended period. The current screen is going to be transferred to Ayutthaya. Australian tourists who purchased a ticket to the Grand Palace were given free entrance into the Ananta Samakom Throne Hall and the neighboring Vimanmek Teak Mansion. But, both of them are now shut. It’s not known yet what’s going to happen next as the Grand Palace itself will probably be shut during October.
The Ananta Samakhom Throne Hall is a royal reception hall in Dusit Palace at Bangkok, Thailand. It had been commissioned by King Chulalongkorn in 1908. The construction was finished in 1915, 5 years following Rama V’s death in 1910. It mostly acts as a museum and can be from time to time used for big state events and royal ceremonies. I presume it’s being ready to get Head of States for the coronation of King Rams X. A date for this has not been established yet.
